Hewlett-Packard makes printers that are known for their durability. Yet, every now and then, you might need a helping hand in dealing with some common problems that can crop up during operation. In this article, we take up some of the most common printer problems and how to fix them easily:
HP Printer Not Working
If your printer is not printing, you should first refer to the basic PPC rule. The PPC rule stands for Power, Paper, and Connection. Check the power supply & cables; ensure that the printer is switched on. Second, check if the printer has paper stacked in the tray. Lastly, check & verify if the printer is correctly connected with the computer. If your printer is out of ink, replace the cartridges & then re-try. You may refer to the user manual on how replace cartridges.
HP Printer Paper Jam Issues
Paper jam is one of the most common problems with printers – be it at home or work. And while it can really be annoying, it is not that difficult to fix. Paper jams can be caused because of various reasons – dust or dirt; paper not loaded properly in the tray; damaged or dirty paper rollers; torn or wrinkled paper loaded; and more. You can fix a paper jam easily – turn is off and then on again; clear out the jammed paper; clean the paper rollers; reset the printer.
HP Printer Print Job Stuck in Queue
There might be a possibility that some of your jobs are stuck in the print queue, and this means unless you clear the queue, you won’t be able to make any new prints either. You can fix this easily by trying to delete the jobs from the Windows print queue and then restart your machine. If this doesn’t work, try the HP print and scan doctor software.
HP Printer Prints are Faded
A faded print is usually caused because of three main reasons: The printer is low on ink; the print density setting is set too low; or the economy or fast draft mode has been enabled. You can easily verify & fix the last two problems by running a self-test print. However, if the ink is low, you would usually get a notification from the printer about it & you’ll have to replace the ink toner or cartridges.
HP Printer is picking up all the Paper at once
If your printer is picking up all the sheets instead of picking them up one by one, then your machine’s pad that is responsible for separating paper has probably worn out & needs to be replaced. You can order a new pad and replace it at home. However, before replacing the pad – do ensure that you are not using any damp or wet papers in the tray. You should try and ‘fan’ the papers once before loading on the tray.
